FIV, or feline immunodeficiency disease, is a virus that affects as many as 3% of outwardly healthy cats in the United States. Unfortunately, there are many misconceptions about cats that have tested positive for FIV (even among some veterinarians), and they are often overlooked by adopters.
The truth is that FIV-positive cats can live long and healthy lives if they are kept indoors, kept current on their physical exams and vaccinations, and have a healthy diet. And, they can live with other, even FIV-negative cats, as long as they don't viciously fight! (FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds and, sometimes, from an infected mother to her kittens during birth.)
So, please share your new knowledge with others, and read more about FIV positive cats at http://langefoundation.com/index/FIV_Cats.html, http://www.vetinfo.com/fiv-positive-cats.html, http://bestfriends.org/Resources/Pet-Care/Cats/Health-And-Care/FAQs-About-FIV/

Attention Kitten Lovers—We Need You!
We need volunteers to foster kittens!! We always need volunteers to foster kitties; but, right now, we're asking all kitten lovers to come forward!
Unfortunately, there are still so many cats that aren't spayed/neutered; therefore, we still need people to foster kittens at this time of year. Several of our kitten fosters have commented that watching them grow, flourish and thrive is one of the most rewarding things they have ever done. So, kitten lovers, we need you! Please email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 348-3903, and press 2. (To find out more about the foster position, please visit our Helping page.)
Our Cats' Forever Homes
Until AnimaLovers's cats are adopted, they live with loving foster parents, which provides the kitties with wonderful, temporary homes and, provides AnimaLovers with lots of information about each cat. And, although our kitties love their foster homes, they are longing for their forever homes!
Please visit our listing on this site; and call our volunteers to learn more about a cat listed here, or other cats that are currently waiting for adoption—call 348-3903, and press 1 for the adoption line.
